The Joy of the Lord!

http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o90/Rakrom/TobyMac-Momentum500px.jpg

Please read these lyrics by Toby Mac and then I will tell you a wonderful little story about my 7 year old son...

"What's Goin' Down"

Welcome to the world of a kid named Mikey
Who had only one reason to be hated be whitey
Raised on a farm outside of South Bend
Where they hated on him cause he was African American
But three years later, Mikey was the town pride
Basketball Mikey went and got himself a full ride
Earned his acceptance on the hardwood floor
And that's something white America would never ignore

Stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's goin' down
Stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's goin' down

What's goin' down tell me what's goin' down
You wanna know just what's goin' down
What's goin' down I'll tell ya what's goin' down
You wanna know just what's goin' down

Take a look around
Everything is comin' down
Do you hear the subtle sounds
Of our morality slippin'
People on the go
We'll be reapin' what we sow
Yeah we say we want to know
But I got my suspicions

Welcome to the world of a girl named Susie
Susie's only crime was that she was born a cutie
Physically abused by her uncle and his friends
Alcohol let 'em all leave the house with grins
But Susie couldn't shake off the memories
Forced to find her own kind of remedy
A man-eater for the rest of her days
Three kids, three men, no daddies by eleventh grade

[CHORUS]

What be goin' diggy down
When you find what you lost
But you lose what you found.

Cool song huh? Well my little man Grant asked me to explain the part about "they hated on him because he was African American". So I told him that some people do not like others because of the color of their skin. He said "well that is not very nice, that is the way God made them". I let him know that he was right and it makes God sad too.

We were riding in the van at the time, headed to dinner with Uncle Jason, Aunt Lindsay and baby T. We get out at Red Robin and I think Grant is bending down to tie his shoe...he stands up, with tears in his eyes and says "Mom I just prayed to Jesus and asked Him to help people be nicer and not hate someone because of the color of their skin"....My 7 year old son was on his knees, on a sidewalk, at Red Robin talking to Jesus!!! WOW! The faith of a child...let them come unto Him...

I was humbled and so bursting with the Joy of the Lord that my son gets it! I just wish we all did!!! =0) All the praise to YOU Jesus

That is just so sweet!

Looks like you're doing a great job raising up a Godly young man.
